I used a similar method for modelling the non-pillar thread bundles while putting an extra helix on top to add more depth to the model. I simply used a cylinder primitive for the wheel pattern that I bended to match with the style of the sewing wheels from Victorian mills. This week would also be when I would start constructing low poly variants of the models I've made in addition to unwrapping their UVs, ready to be textured and baked.
Due to the low poly models having plenty of flat sides, I primarily used the camera-based and best plane UV tools, giving me perfectly flat UVs after also doing some cutting, before then using Layout to arrange them into a 1x1 square. To further save on space, I reduced the size of the UVs for the back of the door and window models since they won't be visible anyway as they're backed up against the wall.
